Overall Match Analysis: At Sharjah, April 9. India won by eight wickets. Toss: Sri Lanka. Victory left India well-placed in the qualifying table, especially as they boosted their run-rate by passing their target inside 34 overs. They bowled well, fielded well, and Tendulkar batted superbly. Sri Lanka had reached 60 for one before sliding to 113 for six, with three wickets falling to Prasad. Tillekeratne and Dharmasena then put on 71, but it was too late to set India a real challenge.

Sachin's Performance Analysis:Tendulkar batted superbly. He drove his way to an unbeaten 112 from 105 balls, including 15 fours and a six. His first 50 took just 44 balls but he then steadied himself to play a big innings; it was his fourth century in limited-overs internationals since September. Prabhakar supported him in an opening stand of 161, which settled the outcome.

Overall Match Analysis : At Delhi, November 3. India won by 107 runs. Toss: India. After the chastening experience of Kanpur, where India lost to the windies by 46 runs (sachin scoring 34), the Indian batsmen were back in striking form, falling only ten short of their highest-ever limited-overs score, 299 against Sri Lanka in 1986-87. India got to a rocking start thanks to AJ & SRT who put up a brilliant 100 run opening partnership thus taking the sting out of the Kiwi bowling attack. Azharuddin and Kambli rounded the innings off with 67 in 46 balls. New Zealand were helpless once they were reduced to 27/3. But there were flashes of brilliance from Fleming, who hit 56 off 48 balls; he and Parore took 23 runs off Chetan Sharma's only over and added 79 together before Tendulkar scotched their last hopes with two wickets.

Sachin's Performance Analysis: Sachin's opening partnership of 100 with AJ bolstered India's score leaving New Zealand dumb-struck. In his knock of 62 runs, 52 came from boundaries. He also went on to take the crucial wicket of Stephen Flemming thereby breaking the dangerous parntnership between Parore and Flemming who looked to threaten the Indian bowling attack.

India v New Zealand 1994-95

Sachin's Score: 115 runs (136 balls, 3x6, 9x4)
Sachin's Bowlings Figures: 3-0-27-0

Date: 28 October 1994
Venue: IPCL ground, Vadodra
Toss: New Zealand won & elected to bat first
Result: India won by 7 wickets

Score Card: Click here!

Overall Match & Sachin's Performance Analysis: The batsmen have traditionally enjoyed this high-scoring venue with a true wicket that holds up throughout the length of a 50-over game. A slow pitch at the small IPCL ground was ideal for batting: Rutherford reached his maiden hundred in his 103rd one-day international, only to be trumped when Tendulkar returned to form with 115. Rutherford scored at more than a run a ball and hit 13 fours, while Parore, who helped him add 180, made 96 without a boundary hit. Restored to open, Tendulkar was dropped on eight, bided his time in a 144-run stand with Prabhakar, and then broke out in a flurry of shots. He hit nine fours and three sixes in 136 balls. Though he was run out when Azharuddin's straight drive ricocheted off Nash's hands on to the stumps, victory was a near-formality.

Trivia:

╠► Sachin Tendulkar has scored the maximum runs at this Vadodara IPCL stadium which is 428 runs in 6 innings at an average of 85.60 & a Strike rate of 87.70

╠► Sachin's score of 115 in this match was the 2nd highest score on this venue with Sachin himself holding the record of highest score of 122 against RSA on the same venue.

╠► Sachin also holds the record of highest centuries in this venue which is 3 and that also incudes the 115 runs knock against the Kiwis.

Almanack report: Toss: India.
Tendulkar's maiden century in 78 one-day internationals was fashioned from a blazing assault in the first hour. He raced to 50 in 43 balls, knocking first the pace bowlers and then Warne - with two sixes in an over - out of the attack. His 110 from 132 balls should have been the platform for a huge total; India reached 100 in the 18th over. It never quite materialised after he played over a yorker from McDermott, but India won calmly, with Prabhakar challenging Tendulkar for the match award. He took a return catch off Taylor, two further wickets, another catch and two run-outs. Australia's only substantial partnership was 67 from Mark Waugh and Boon.

Match notes: This was 3rd match of the Singer World series. As India already lost to Sri Lanka in the opening game and Australia defeated Pakistan so it was extremely necessary for India to win this match. As usual Sachin rose to the occasion and he went on to score his first century in ODI. Finally India won the match. As it happened it was only victory for India in the series and India reached to the final and defeated Sri Lanka to clinch the Singer World Series.

Eye Witness Account: I started watching cricket in the same year (1994). As my father himself is Sachin's big fan so that made me to watch Sachin's batting always and I turned to be his big fan too in due course of time. I saw this match live but was too young to understand his shots. If I'm correct the match was telecast on DD-1 and we used to have interruption due to DD-news and the telecast was used to shift on DD-2. But we had only DD-1 coming to our TV.

Almanack report :Tendulkar played a blazing innings of 82 from 49 balls, with 15 fours and two sixes, and India achieved a thumping victory in less than half their allocated 50 overs. Opening because of Sidhu's neck strain, Tendulkar put on 61 with Jadeja in nine overs, and 56 in six with Kambli. He smashed three fours and a six off Larsen's first over and Kambli was just as hard on Morrison.

Rutherford had chosen to bat but, on the same pitch on which Pakistan had won the First Test inside three days, half the side went for 34. Parore and Harris staged a minor recovery, with 52 for the sixth wicket, but off-spinner Chauhan destroyed the tail. As New Zealand limped to 142, Harris reached an unbeaten 50.

Overall Match Analysis: At Hamilton, March 7. India won by 55 runs, India's total having been revised to 158 and Zimbabwe's to 103 from their highest-scoring 19 overs. Another rain-affected match was decided by the controversial rule on shortened innings. This time India were the beneficiaries. But there was widespread sympathy for Zimbabwe, who were making good progress in pursuit of 204 from 32 overs.

Their 104 for one from 19.1 compared well with 106 for three at the same point of the Indian innings. With Flower, who had reached 200 runs in the tournament, still at the crease, another 100 from 13 was not impossible. In the morning, three hours had been lost to rain, and Tendulkar dominated the 32 overs allotted to India. He scored 81 from 77 balls (one six, eight fours), and with Manjrekar added 99 in 15 overs for the fourth wicket.

Sachin's Performance Analysis: This was Sachin Tendulkar's 36th One Day International Match and he won his 6th ODI MOM award in this match after excellent all round performance. He Played an excellent knock in the match by scoring 81 runs of 77 balls, eight fours and smashed a brilliant six. And in the Zimbabwe innings, when the Zimbabwe openers are going strong, Sachin was introduced as the 4th bowler. And soon Sachin broke the opening partnership by bowling out Omarshah with his medium pacer. And took the only wicket to fall in the zimbabwe innings. Definitely an all round performance par excellence & well deserved Man Of The Match Award.

INDIA v PAKISTAN

Sachin's Score : 54 from 62 ball's strike rate of 87.09 and 3 hits to the fence
Bowling : 10 overs 37 runs and a wkt

Venue: Sydney Cricket Ground
Result : India won by 43 runs

Overall Match Analysis:India won without much difficulty when Pakistan lost their last eight wickets for 68 runs, but the neighbours' first World Cup encounter was marred by a less palatable confrontation, between More and Javed Miandad. The wicket-keeper's over-optimistic appeal for a leg-side catch led to verbal exchanges, and later Miandad mockingly leapt up and down, in apparent imitation. After the umpires made their report (minus the dialogue, which they could not understand), match referee Ted Wykes asked the tour managers to sort matters out. More had the better of the cricketing contest, with two catches, a stumping and the run-out of Imran Khan, while Miandad took 34 overs to score 40, leaving his colleagues with a tall order. Though he added 88 for the third wicket with Aamir Sohail, it was Sohail who caught the eye. India had dropped Shastri and asked Jadeja, in his second international, to open. He acquitted himself well, but once again the finest innings came from Tendulkar, unbeaten on 54 from 62 deliveries. He put on 60 in eight overs with Kapil Dev.

Sachin's Performance Analysis : Tendulkar won his First Man of the Match in the World Cups. He batted and No.5 and amazed a 62-ball 54 which included 3 hits to the fence. Sachin also added crucial partnership of 60 runs with Kapil Dev tat propelled India to a respectable total. Sachin didnt end up here, he bowled ten tidy overs and took the all important wicket of Aamer Sohail

Overall Match & Sachin's Performance Analysis: At Melbourne, January 16 (day/night). India won by five wickets. Toss: West Indies. The last round-robin match decided which of the two teams would make the final, and both opened nervously. West Indies slumped to 84 for four when Hirwani's leg-spin accounted for the fluent Lara and Richardson, who came into his own after a slow start. Hooper, at a run a ball, and Best began a revival. But there was another collapse before Ambrose, striking the ball firmly off his legs, inspired a rally.India also seemed subdued, and were 38 for two after 19 overs. Then Srikkanth launched a flurry of adventurous shots, and subsequently Tendulkar took charge. Though less belligerent than Srikkanth, he pierced the gaps skilfully and ran sharply between the wickets for his unbeaten 57. India won with 20 balls to spare.

INDIA v SOUTH AFRICA 1991-92
Sachin's Score: 62 runs (73 balls, 4s:8, 6s:1)
Sachin's Bowling Figures: 5 - 0 - 27 – 1
Donald’s Bowling Figures: 8.4 - 0 - 29 - 5

Date: 10 November 1991.
Venue: Eden Gardens, Calcutta (Kolkata).
Toss: India won the toss & elects to bowl first.
Result: India won by 3 wickets (with 38 balls remaining).
Man of the Match Award shared by Sachin Tendulkar & Allan Donald.

Score Card: http://www.cricinfo.com/statsguru/engine/match/64375.html

Overall Match & Sachin's Performance Analysis: South Africa's first officially blessed representative match in almost 22 years, first one-day international and first-ever game against India attracted a crowd widely claimed as beating the world record for a day's cricket of 90,800. However, Jagmohan Dalmiya, president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, said Eden Gardens now contained 90,452 seats and estimates putting the attendance higher included all the various officials, pressmen, policemen and peanut vendors.
This was Sachin Tendulkar’s 19th match and he got his 3rd Man of the Match award. South Africa playing their first match in 22 years got to a bad start losing 3 wickets for just 49 runs, before Keppler Wessels & Adrian Kuiper steadying the African ship with a 60 runs partnership. Just when the South Africans were finding their foot in the game, Sachin picked up the crucial wicket of Keppler Wessels for 50 thus slowing down their progress once again. The South African’s ended up scoring just 177 runs in their allotted 47 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. But the African lions were not going to take things lying down and came back with full vengeance. Allan “White Lightning” Donald who was making his international debut broke the back of the Indian top order with his deadly spell of first 4 overs reducing India to 20 for the loss of 3 wickets. Sachin Tendulkar who came when India was tottering at 3 for the loss of 2 wickets played a brilliant innings which included 8 boundaries and a six. He played sensibly along with Indian Captain Mohammed Azharuddin & debutant Pravin Amre adding crucial 40 and 56 runs for the 4th & 5th wicket respectively before Donald struck once again for the Proteas dismissing Tendulkar for an individual score of 62 runs from 73 balls. Donald was not finished yet and returned once again to remove Amre for 55 thus taking 5 wickets on debut but Sachin’s performance made sure that India won the match by 3 wickets remaining with 6.2 overs to spare.
Sachin Tendulkar & Allan Donald shared the Man of the Match award for the brilliant performance in a match which saw both teams fighting tooth & nail till the finish.Even in defeat, the South Africans were still overwhelmed by the occasion: I know how Neil Armstrong felt when he stood on the moon, said their captain Rice.

Trivia:

╠►South Africa was making a comeback into international cricket after 22 years of ban over its apartheid regime.

╠►11 players made their ODI debut in this match. PK Amre (India); SJ Cook, AA Donald, AC Hudson, PN Kirsten, AP Kuiper, BM McMillan, CEB Rice, DJ Richardson, TG Shaw and RP Snell (South Africa). The only South African player who had played international cricket before was Keppler Wessels. Interestingly he didn’t play those matches for South Africa but for Australia. Wessels who is South African by birth made in international debut with Australia in 1982 (Test against England) and 1983 (ODI against New Zealand) when South African was serving the ban from international cricket.

╠►Allan Donald took 5 wickets on his debut and shared the MoM award with Sachin Tendulkar.

╠► Sachin Tendulkar’s score of 62 was his 4th 50 in the 19 matches he played at that time and his highest score at that point.
