Overall Match Analysis : At Delhi, November 3. India won by 107 runs. Toss: India. After the chastening experience of Kanpur, where India lost to the windies by 46 runs (sachin scoring 34), the Indian batsmen were back in striking form, falling only ten short of their highest-ever limited-overs score, 299 against Sri Lanka in 1986-87. India got to a rocking start thanks to AJ & SRT who put up a brilliant 100 run opening partnership thus taking the sting out of the Kiwi bowling attack. Azharuddin and Kambli rounded the innings off with 67 in 46 balls. New Zealand were helpless once they were reduced to 27/3. But there were flashes of brilliance from Fleming, who hit 56 off 48 balls; he and Parore took 23 runs off Chetan Sharma's only over and added 79 together before Tendulkar scotched their last hopes with two wickets.

Sachin's Performance Analysis: Sachin's opening partnership of 100 with AJ bolstered India's score leaving New Zealand dumb-struck. In his knock of 62 runs, 52 came from boundaries. He also went on to take the crucial wicket of Stephen Flemming thereby breaking the dangerous parntnership between Parore and Flemming who looked to threaten the Indian bowling attack.
